Report: Tottenham and Man United are both interested in one Porto star

90 min have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur hold an interest in FC Porto goalkeeper Diogo Costa.

Hugo Lloris has spent more than a decade at Spurs and has been a magnificent servant for the North London club but if reports over recent months are to be believed, this is likely to be the Frenchman’s last season at the club (Evening Standard).

Many goalkeepers have been mooted potential replacements for the 35-year-old over recent weeks and another name can now be added to that list in the form of Costa.

The 23-year-old impressed between the sticks during the 2021-22 season after establishing himself as Porto’s undisputed number one and he is expected to start for Portugal at the World Cup ahead of the more experienced Rui Patricio.

90 min state that Tottenham have sent scouts to run the rule on Costa ahead of the January transfer window. The report suggests that Antonio Conte’s men could face competition from Manchester United for the goalkeeper, with the Red Devils also said to be ‘enamoured’ by the Porto number one.

Spurs Web Opinion

Going by the various reports over the last few months, there appear to be quite a few names on Partici’s wishlist as far as Lloris’ replacement is concerned.

However, I do not think there is any chance that Spurs will move for a goalkeeper during the January transfer window. The position is only likely to be addressed next summer.
