Football Insider have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United are now both ready to call off their pursuit of Marc Guehi in January.
Spurs Web has relayed various reports over the last couple of months which have indicated that the Lilywhites have held a long-term interest in Guehi, who has now emerged as one of the best centre-backs in the Premier League over the last two years.
The latest to make such a claim was Sky Sports, who stated on December 7 that the Palace star is one of three centre-backs at the top of Ange Postecoglou’s wishlist.
However, The Daily Mirror subsequently revealed on Sunday that the 23-year-old is thought to be out of Tottenham’s price range.
Tottenham and Man Utd to abandon Guehi pursuit
Football Insider have now said that both Spurs and the Red Devils are now set to admit defeat in their pursuit of Guehi.
This is because Palace have decided to hang on to the centre-back until the end of the year, with the outlet revealing that one source even informed them that a deal now looks ‘impossible’.
Spurs Web Opinion
Guehi would probably want continuity at the moment as he would not want to do anything that would jeopardise his chances of starting for England at the Euro 2024. There will likely be a bidding war for the 23-year-old’s signature next summer.
