Report: Tottenham and Manchester United make contact for French striker

According to a new report from CalcioMercato, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United have already made contact with Marcus Thuram’s representatives, but they face competition from Italian sides Juventus and Inter Milan.

Thuram is out of contract in the summer and Borussia Monchengladbach’s sporting director Roland Virkus has already conceded the club will be letting the player move on when his current deal expires (Sport1).

The Frenchman is enjoying a fruitful campaign this year for the German side, with 14 goals and four assists in 25 games (Transfermarkt).

Spurs and Newcastle United have been linked with the 26-year-old for a while now (90 Min), and it is thought the former see Thuram as a possible reinforcement to add to their attacking options down the left side of the attack (The Times).

Competition is set to be fierce for the signature of Thuram it seems, and now the latest out of Italy suggests two of the biggest Serie A teams will fight it out with Premier League clubs to acquire the French attacker.

Inter Milan are thought to be ready to offload Romelu Lukaku and “sink the blow for Thuram,” as they search for the perfect strike partner for Lautaro Martinez. The report adds that Juventus had “moved a few months ago” to enquire about Thuram’s intentions.

Meanwhile, in England, both Spurs and Manchester United have reportedly “already had some contact with the entourage of the player,” and it is expected there will be opportunity for “better salaries” in the Premier League than in Italy.

Spurs Web Opinion

Marcus Thuram would be a decent option on a free transfer and could be a great asset for our attacking roster. I’m not entirely convinced he would be a regular starter, but to add depth and quality to our front line, he is a very intriguing option for sure.
