Report: Tottenham are among four clubs monitoring Lille star

According to a report from TuttoMercatoWeb, Tottenham Hotspur are monitoring Lille right-back Zeki Celik ahead of the January transfer window.

Celik has been a consistent performer for Lille since arriving in the North of France in 2018.  The Turkish international has seemingly been a long-term target for Tottenham, having first been linked with a move to the club back in 2019

L’Equipe reported this summer that the North London club were eyeing the 24-year-old as a replacement for Serge Aurier but he stayed put at the Ligue 1 champions.

According to TMW’s latest update, Spurs could reignite their interest in the athletic and technically gifted right-back in January.

The report explains that Tottenham, Atletico Madrid, Fiorentina and Inter Milan are continuing to monitor the Lille star.

It is explained that Les Dogues demanded €20m (£16.8m) for the defender when clubs expressed an interest in him 12 months ago.

With Celik’s current contract running out in the summer of 2023, it remains to be seen what Lille’s asking price for the right-back will be in January.

Spurs Web Opinion

Considering we signed Emerson this summer and that Nuno has also Tanganga and Doherty at his disposal, it would make little sense for Spurs to move for a right-back in January. So, I do not think there is any truth to our alleged interest in Celik.
