Report: Tottenham are battling Man United and Juventus for PSG star

According to a report from L’Equipe, Tottenham Hotspur are one of the clubs still interested in Paris Saint-Germain forward Mauro Icardi.

Reports have indicated that Spurs are expected to prioritise signing a striker and a right-wing-back during this month’s transfer window.

Icardi, who has fallen down Mauricio Pochettino’s pecking order at PSG, was previously alleged to be one of the forwards on Tottenham’s radar.

Foot Mercato claimed last month that the Argentine’s representatives have offered him to Spurs, Barcelona, Juventus and Newcastle ahead of the January transfer window.

PSG are said to be ready to cash in on the 28-year-old if they receive a ‘reasonable’ offer for the striker.

L’Equipe have now claimed that Icardi is likely to leave Paris this month in search of regular first-team football.

The report asserts that Spurs are battling it out with Manchester United and Juventus for the striker’s services. It is alleged that Juve are currently the front-runners to secure Icardi’s signature.

A striker will certainly be at the top of Conte’s wish list, with Spurs currently lacking a natural backup for Kane. However, I doubt if a move for Icardi would be on the cards as the Argentine would demand guaranteed first-team football – something he might not get at Spurs.
