Report: Tottenham are battling two Serie A sides for 26-year-old attacker

According to La Stampa (as relayed by FcInter1908), Tottenham Hotspur are set to battle Inter Milan and AS Roma for Genoa attacker Albert Gudmundsson in the summer.

Gudmundsson, who can operate as a number ten or in either flank, has been heavily linked with a move to Spurs over recent weeks, with various outlets revealing that the Lilywhites are watching the player closely (Gazzetta dello Sport).

A couple of weeks ago NapoliCalcio24 suggested that Tottenham have an advantage in the race for the player as they have a good relationship with his entourage. The report even suggested that the North London side ‘would be ready’ to meet Genoa’s demands for their talisman.

Competition heating up for Albert Gudmundsson

However, La Stampa have now claimed that the race for Gudmundsson’s signature is heating up, with Inter and Roma said to have entered the picture.

The report reveals that Fiorentina also tried in vain to sign the attacker in January but their offer was knocked back by Genoa, with the outlet explaining that Viola will now find it difficult to sign the player in the summer, given the increased competition.

Finally, the publication adds that with Tottenham, Roma and Inter circling, Genoa are hoping a bidding war ensues for Gudmundsson, who is currently valued at around €30m (£25.6m).

Spurs Web Opinion

Tottenham have a good relationship with the Genoa hierarchy after successfully negotiating the Dragusin deal in January. The Premier League side would be hoping to use that to their advantage to steal a march over other suitors in the race for Gudmundsson.
