Report: Tottenham are chasing Everton teenager with a price tag of £10m

Tottenham Hotspur have joined the race to sign Everton’s Douglass Lukjanciks, but they will face competition from Xabi Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen side.

In the recent past, Spurs have moved quickly to snap up some of the brightest young talent on the continent.

Players like Pape Sarr and Destiny Udogie have slotted straight into the Tottenham first team this season and excelled in the Premier League.

Meanwhile, Swedish prodigy Lucas Bergvall is on his way to North London this summer and is expected to have a very bright future indeed.

The Spurs youth team have been a shining light at the club this season, too, topping the Under-21 table and storming their way to the Premier League 2 semi-finals this week.

Spurs want 16-year-old goalkeeper

Still, there’s always room for more talented youngsters, and it seems Spurs are chasing yet another highly-rated teenager, with Everton goalkeeper Douglass Lukjanciks now thought to be on the shopping list.

That’s according to The Sun, who claim the Lilywhites have joined a long list of top sides who are keen on the 16-year-old.

Lukjanciks is due to sign schoolboy terms with the Toffees, but could end up leaving the club in the near future for a reported fee of £10m. Given this would be pure profit for Everton, it could go a long way to helping with their financial troubles.

Manchester City are believed to lead the way in the race to sign the England Under-17 star, but Tottenham, Leverkusen, Aston Villa, and Marseille are all in pursuit, too.

Spurs Web Opinion

£10m is a crazy fee to pay for a 16-year-old, but if he’s good enough then why not? We’ve got some decent young keepers at the club already, but someone like Lukjanciks could end up being your number-one for years to come.
