Report: Tottenham are encouraging Premier League rival to bid for first-team star

The Christian Eriksen will-he won’t-he saga has been rolling on all summer now, but with a few days to go until the new Premier League season, the Dane is still a Spurs player.

This comes after he essentially issued a come and get me plea to Europe’s biggest clubs after Tottenham lost to Liverpool in the Champions League Final last season.

Eriksen stated that it was time for him to find a new challenge and make a step up in his career. However, the interesting thing is that he did say a new Spurs contract was an option if no big clubs came in for him, and so far, they have not (Ekstra Bladet).

However, that could be about to change if reports are to be believed, as Manchester United are said to be looking to make a late move for the Tottenham star (Sky Sports).

Not only this, but the Manchester Evening News claim that Tottenham are encouraging United to make a bid before the window shuts on Thursday.

Could we see Eriksen leave Spurs to a Prem rival? And would United even be a step up?
