Report: Tottenham are eyeing a move for young Brazilian full-back

Journalist Rogerio Siqueira has said that Tottenham Hotspur are monitoring the progress of Brazilian starlet Joao Pedro Chermont ahead of the summer transfer window.

Chermont has impressed since breaking into Santos’ starting eleven recently, having performed well as a conventional right-back as well as a right wing-back.

According to Siqueira, the 18-year-old’s displays have caught the attention of Spurs who are now closely watching his progress.

The journalist says that the North London club will continue to keep an eye on the teenager but he does not suggest that an offer is likely to be made this summer.

He adds that Santos are keen to ensure they do not lose the full-back on the cheap and are thus reportedly in talks with the player regarding a new deal.

Are Tottenham interested in Joao Pedro Chermont?

Sport Witness also relays this information from Siqueira but they point out that no major outlet in Brazil have reported on Tottenham’s interest in the youngster.

They also add that the right-back has only played in Brazilian football’s second tier and suggest that a move to one of Europe’s bigger clubs might be unlikely until he impresses in the Brasileiro Serie A.

Spurs Web Opinion

Tottenham might be exploring Chermont as one for the future like Luka Vuskovic rather than as an option to go straight into the first team. The Premier League side might even be considering loaning the right-back back to Santos like they have done with other youngsters in the past.
