Report: Tottenham are favourites to beat Arsenal and Chelsea to 24-year-old

According to Fichajes, Tottenham Hotspur are now in pole position to land Torino centre-back Alessandro Buongiorno this summer.

Over the last week, Spurs Web has relayed a number of reports backing Tottenham to make a move for Buongiorno, with Calciomercato being the first to suggest that the Lilywhites had ‘initiated contact’ over a deal for the central defender.

The report said that the North London club were battling the likes of AC Milan and Napoli for the 24-year-old while The Sun subsequently revealed a couple of days ago that Chelsea also have their eye on the versatile defender.

Tottenham favourites to sign Alessandro Buongiorno

Fichajes have now said that even though several Serie A giants are showing interest in Buongiorno, the centre-back looks bound for the Premier League.

This is because Tottenham, Arsenal and Chelsea are all thought to be circling over the Italy international ahead of the summer transfer window.

It is alleged that Ange Postecoglou’s men currently ‘appear to have the upper hand’ in the race for the Torino star but it ‘remains to be seen’ if they would be willing to meet the Serie A club’s €40m (£34.1m) asking price.

Spurs Web Opinion

Both Buongiorno and Bologna’s Riccardo Calafiori seem like Fabio Paratici targets and it sounds like the former Tottenham director of football has already begun laying the groundwork for those deals. However, I suspect Tosin Adarabioyo would be Spurs’ top centre-back target this summer.
