Report: Tottenham are in regular contact with a Bundesliga midfielder

Tottenham are reportedly in regular contact with Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Jonas Hofmann about a potential transfer this summer, according to SportBild (04/05/22 edition – via Sport Witness).

Hofmann has been a bright spark for the German side this season, despite the club being marooned in mid-table in the Bundesliga for the majority of the campaign.

The versatile 29-year-old has posted 15 direct goal contributions in 26 appearances, but his future at Monchengladbach could be up in the air with just over a year remaining on his current deal (Transfermarkt).

And Bild notes that Hofmann is not interested in signing fresh terms as he believes his current club can only offer ‘mediocrity’, which has now opened the door to two clubs interested in securing a deal this summer.

The report claims Tottenham’s managing director of football, Fabio Paratici, is in constant communication with the attacking midfielder, who will make a decision regarding his future in the coming weeks.

However, while a ‘concrete offer’ would be enough for Monchengladbach to sanction a transfer, Spurs are said to be joined by Atletico Madrid who are also very keen on completing a deal. A price tag is not mentioned in the report.

Spurs Web Opinion

Hofmann seems like a steady option to bring in at Spurs as he has been producing good numbers in the Bundesliga over the last few years.

It would seem like a transfer that wouldn’t cost too much either which would be useful for Spurs, especially as they are in need of a creative source in the middle.
