Report: Tottenham are interested in French right-back valued at £17m

According to The Daily Mirror, Tottenham Hotspur are interested in a move for RB Leipzig right-back Nordi Mukiele.

After completing the signing of Ivan Perisic on a free transfer, Spurs are expected to now shift their attention to a new right wing-back, with Middlesbrough’s Djed Spence reported to be the club’s top target (The Telegraph).

However, if The Mirror’s update is to be believed, Spurs also have their eye on Mukiele, who has established himself as one of the best right-backs in the Bundesliga since his move to Leipzig back in 2018.

The report reveals that since the 24-year-old has just 12 months left to run on his contract, Leipzig are prepared to sell him for around £17m this summer.

Spurs are said to have company in eyeing Mukiele, with Atletico Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain also thought to be interested in the French international. However, The Mirror add that PSG’s interest in the former Montpellier star is ‘only lukewarm’.

Spurs Web Opinion

Mukiele is extremely versatile, being capable of playing at right centre-back, right-back or a wing-back. Conte might be eyeing the 24-year-old as a squad player, owing to his ability to cover many positions. However, I do not think the Frenchman offers enough going forward to be Conte’s first choice at right wing-back.
