Report: Tottenham are interested in signing another Real Madrid player

Tuttocercatoweb have reported that Tottenham are interested in signing Real Madrid right-back Alvaro Odriozola before the close of the summer transfer window.

Madrid signed Odriozola from Real Sociedad for £30m three years ago, but he hasn’t exactly hit the ground running with Los Blancos.

He has only managed 43 appearances in that time, although has registered a somewhat impressive two goals and ten assists (TransferMarkt).

Fiorentina were reportedly expected to sign the right-back on a loan deal for the 21/22 season, but interest from Tottenham has now complicated such a deal. The Italian club may have also struggled to match Odriozola’s £60,000 per week wages.

Therefore, if Tottenham come in with an acceptable offer, Madrid will apparently not stand in the former Bayern Munich defender’s way.

In recent times, Spurs have purchased left-back Sergio Reguilon from Real Madrid and signed Gareth Bale on loan. So could that special relationship bear fruit again?

Spurs Web Opinion:

I can’t see Spurs signing a new right-back before offloading Serge Aurier. Even if that does happen, I could see them going for a centre-back right-back hybrid rather than an out-and-out right-back.
