Report: Tottenham are keen on signing young English talent this summer

The Daily Mail have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are one of several Premier League clubs eyeing a move for Birmingham City prospect Trevan Sanusi.

Despite being only 16 years of age, Sanusi broke into Birmingham City’s Under-21 side last season and produced some impressive performances.

Although the winger is yet to make his senior debut for the Championship side, he has trained with the first team on a number of occasions and was called up as 19th man by John Eustace for their away trip to Blackpool last season.

Tottenham are in the hunt for Trevan Sanusi

The Mail claim that Sanusi’s performances for the Blues youth teams have caught the eye of several top-flight clubs, including Tottenham, who allegedly send scouts to keep a close eye on the youngster last season.

The report claims that the Lilywhties are now considering a move for the teenager but they are not alone in their admiration for the Birmingham star, with Manchester United, Arsenal, Manchester City, Liverpool and Newcastle United also said to be monitoring him.

Spurs Web Opinion

Tottenham are now arguably a more appealing destination for young, up-and-coming talent than we were for the last few years, given Postecoglou’s reputation for promoting youth.

A pathway from the academy to the first-team almost seemed non-existent under the likes of Conte and Mourinho but one would hope that things are now set to change.
