According to Foot Mercato, Tottenham Hotspur are eyeing a move for Lyon midfielder Maxence Caqueret this summer.
Following an indifferent start to the season, Caqueret was one of Lyon’s most consistent performers in the second half of 2022-23, finishing the campaign with four goals and seven assists in 36 league matches (Transfermarkt).
Foot Mercato claim that the central midfielder’s displays have brought him to the attention of several overseas clubs, including Tottenham.
However, it is explained that even though Caqueret is on Spurs’ shortlist, the North London club want to address priority positions first before pushing ahead with a move for the player.
The outlet adds that Borrusia Dortmund also have an eye on the 23-year-old and are now considering ‘going on the offensive’ for him.
Foot Mercato also reveal that AC Milan made a move for Caqueret last summer but the Lyon star rejected the Serie A club in favour of remaining at Groupama Stadium.

Central midfield could be a priority position for Tottenham to address depending on whether Hojbjerg is sold and how quickly Bentancur recovers from his injury.
Spurs’ decision could also depend on whether Postecoglou feels any one of Lo Celso, Ndombele and Winks can have a future at the club.
