Report: Tottenham are now 24-year-old’s most likely destination

Italian journalist Rudy Galetti has said that Tottenham Hotspur are now the most likely destination for AC Milan midfielder Frank Kessie.

Spurs were being linked with a move for Kessie in January even before Antonio Conte’s appointment was confirmed last week

However, the speculation has hit hyperdrive since the Italian’s arrival in North London, with reports indicating that the former Chelsea boss has asked the Spurs hierarchy to complete a deal for the Milan star.

The Ivory Coast international’s current deal runs out at the end of the season and the Rossoneri have been unable to strike an agreement over a new contract with him so far.

90min claimed earlier this week that despite facing plenty of competition for Kessie, Tottenham are confident Conte’s arrival will help them clinch the deal for the midfielder.

Galetti has now indicated to Calciomercato’s Twitch channel that Kessie is now likely to end up at Spurs.

The journalist explained that the new Tottenham head coach had personally asked for the club to bring in the 24-year-old.

However, he did not make clear if Spurs are likely to sign Kessie in January or snap him up as a free agent in the summer.

Of all the central midfield players we have been linked with, Kessie is clearly the standout. One could expect the Ivorian to be at the top of Conte’s and Paratici’s wishlist.

However, there is likely to be plenty of competition for the Milan star’s signature and so Spurs will likely have several backup options in case they miss out on him.
