Report: Tottenham are now eyeing a striker with £68m release clause

According to CaughOffside, Tottenham Hotspur are now plotting a transfer move for RB Leipzig talisman Lois Openda.

RB Leipzig

Tottenham have been linked with a whole host of strikers over recent weeks as Ange Postecoglou looks to add reinforcements across the pitch ahead of his second season in charge.

CaughtOffside say that the Spurs boss is ‘desperate to ensure’ that he is not left short up front next term, with Openda being the latest name to emerge on the club’s shortlist.

The 24-year-old has had an outstanding debut season in the Bundesliga since his switch from Lens last summer, having scored 28 goals across all competitions in 2023-24.

Tottenham like the look of Lois Openda

CaughtOffside claim that Spurs could now push ahead with a move for the Belgian international, who is said to be ahead of Porto star Evanilson on Postecoglou’s wishlist.

It was previously reported by BILD last month that Openda had also emerged as a target for Man Utd, who are keen to add a marquee striker to their squad.

The publication asserted that Leipzig will not let their star striker leave on the cheap, revealing that the player is contracted to the club until 2028 and has a release clause of €80m (£68.1m).

Spurs Web Opinion

With Leipzig managing to qualify for next season’s Champions League, I do not see them being willing to sell Openda unless they receive a humungous offer for the 24-year-old.
