HITC have revealed that Tottenham Hotspur are now one of five Premier League clubs plotting a move for Brentford striker Ivan Toney at the end of the season.
Since returning from his ban last month, Toney has once again demonstrated why he is rated as one of the best centre-forwards in the country, having scored four times in three Premier League outings (Transfermarkt).
Last week, Brentford boss Thomas Frank admitted to Tipsbladet that it was ‘relatively obvious’ that the 27-year-old will be sold next summer since he will have just a year left to run on his contract at the Gtech Community Stadium in June.

Tottenham face a major tussle for Ivan Toney
According to HITC’s latest update, the Bees did discuss a new contract with Toney last month but the striker insisted on a release clause, which is why the negotiations collapsed.
It is explained that the England international is now unlikely to extend his stay at West London, which is why a whole host of clubs are lining up a move for him in the summer.
The report says that Spurs have been joined in the race for Toney’s signature by Arsenal, Newcastle United, Manchester United and Chelsea.
Finally, the outlet adds that Brentford demanded a whopping £80m for the striker last month but they would be prepared to drop their demands to around £50m to £60m next summer.

The Premier League’s decision to stringently implement the Profit and Sustainability rules means that clubs will once again be restricted in how much they can spend next summer.
There is no doubt that transfer fees will thus drop and Brentford may not find it easy to get £50m for a player with one year left on his contract. That is why Spurs might have as good a chance as any side of landing Toney.
