Report: Tottenham are now in ‘pole position’ to sign title-winning manager

According to a report in Kiss Kiss Napoli (as relayed by Area Napoli), Tottenham have now emerged as the front-runners to sign Napoli boss Luciano Spalletti.

Spalletti has created history at Naples this season by guiding the club to their first Scudetto in over three decades.

Not only have Napoli completely run away with the Serie A title but they have done so while playing an extremely attractive brand of football, having scored 70 times in 34 matches so far.

It was reported by journalist Ciro Venerato on Rai’s La Domenica Sportiva (via Area Napoli) this week that Spalletti’s work at the Serie A club has caught the eye of several clubs around Europe, including Spurs, Chelsea and PSG, who are said to be ‘concretely interested’ in the experienced coach.

The journalist alleged that the Serie A Champions had already identified replacements for the 64-year-old as they fear that he could leave the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium at the end of the season.

If Kiss Kiss Napoli’s latest update is to be believed, Spurs have now moved into pole position to snap up Spalletti this summer.

The outlet explains that the next 20 days will be important in deciding the Napoli boss’ future as he will sit down with the club’s owner Aurelio De Laurentiis to discuss the plans for next season.

Spurs Web Opinion

I suspect these rumours are being leaked to the press by Spalletti’s camp to put pressure on the Napoli hierarchy to hand the 64-year-old more money to spend this summer.

I do not think the Italian would be near the top of Tottenham’s or PSG’s wishlist.
