Report: Tottenham are now leading the race for former Man City forward

CalcioMercatoWeb.it have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are currently the frontrunners to snap up Ferran Torres from Barcelona in the summer.

Torres has struggled to establish himself as a regular starter at the Camp Nou this season, having found the back of the net just five times across all competitions.

CMW.it claim that the 22-year-old could be asked to pack his bags in the summer as Barca are open to cashing in on him.

The report asserts that, as things stand, Tottenham are ‘above all’ in the race for the former Manchester City star.

It is explained that Spurs are considering appointing Luis Enrique as Antonio Conte’s replacement in the summer and hope that the 52-year-old would be able to convince Torres to join him in N17, having managed the forward during his stint with Spain.

CMW.it add that Tottenham could face competition for the Barcelona star from Juventus, who are also said to be contemplating a move for the player.

It is alleged that the Serie A giants are eyeing the Spain international as a replacement for Angel Di Maria if the Argentine chooses not to renew his contract.

Spurs Web Opinion

I do not see any good reason why Tottenham would want to sign Torres.

The last thing we need is another right-footed attacker who prefers playing on the left.

The 23-year-old’s goal record is also simply not up to scratch.
