Report: Tottenham are now ‘slipping away’ in race for 21-year-old striker

Corriere dello Sport have claimed (as relayed by Sport Witness) that Tottenham Hotspur are now falling behind in the race for Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic.

It was reported a few days ago by the Italian press that the race for Vlahvoic was between Tottenham, Arsenal and Juventus, with the two North London clubs alleged to be the front-runners.

However, it has since emerged that Manchester City have entered the race for the Serbian international.

Sources have suggested that Pep Guardiola ‘loves’ the 21-year-old’s qualities and that City are set to push ahead with a January assault for the striker after failing to sign Harry Kane in the summer.

This information has now been seconded by Corriere, who suggest that Tottenham now ‘seem to be slipping away’ in the race for Vlahovic after City’s emergence.

The report claims the reigning Premier League champions are ‘gathering more and more information’ about the centre-forward.

It is suggested that a bid is incoming for Vlahovic from City next month, with Fiorentina potentially set to receive a ‘shower of millions’ on the table.

Spurs Web Opinion

Spurs signing Vlahovic was always going to be a long shot unless Kane left. I just do not see how we would have been prepared to spend £60m on the Serbian with Kane and Son already at the club.

The Fiorentina star’s brilliant form in front of goal this season has only made a deal even more unlikely by alerting the likes of City to his talent.
