Report: Tottenham are now ‘totally convinced’ about Conor Gallagher alternative

GiveMeSport report that Tottenham Hotspur now hold a keen interest in Atalanta midfielder Ederson, with figures at the North London club ‘totally convinced’ that the player will succeed in the Premier League.

The report explains that while Conor Gallagher remains Tottenham’s top target, the Lilywhites fear that Chelsea would be unwilling to sell their academy graduate to them in the summer.

As a result, Spurs have allegedly looked around for alternatives and have settled on Ederson as their top choice, having been conceived by the Brazilian’s performances this season.

Ederson seen as an ideal fit for Tottenham

The report says that Tottenham have been tracking the Atalanta midfielder for the last two seasons and are now completely sure that he is capable of having the desired impact in English football.

The outlet suggests that the Premier League side feel that the 24-year-old has shown ‘dramatic improvements in his game’ this season and are now ‘seriously considering’ entering the negotiating table for the player.

Ederson’s ability to regain possession and quickly feed Atalanta’s talented attackers has allegedly caught the eye of Ange Postecoglou, who believes that the midfielder would seamlessly fit into his style of play and vision.

Finally, the publication adds that while Juve are also showing interest in the Serie A star, the Biaconeri are prioritising other targets, thus opening the door for Spurs to complete the deal.

With Chelsea needing to raise a lot of money by the end of June to ensure they do not fall foul of PSR, Tottenham will know early in the transfer window whether they can get their hands on Gallagher. That will leave the Lilywhites with plenty of time to strike a deal with Atalanta for Ederson.
