Report: Tottenham are one of eight clubs interested in free agent this summer

Frankfurter Rundschau have revealed that Tottenham Hotspur are one of several big hitters across Europe who are looking to snap up Eintracht Frankfurt’s Evan Ndicka on a free transfer next summer.

The report claims that the centre-back, whose current deal at Deutsche Bank Park runs out at the end of the season, is ‘in demand’ and is ‘highly coveted’ across Europe.

It is explained that while Frankfurt would ‘like to continue working together’ with the Frenchman, their chances of tying him down to a new contract ‘are not great’ due to the number of clubs interested in the player’s services.

Frankfurter Rundschau add that Ndicka’s representatives ‘want to cash in big’ next summer and have not reacted positively to the Bundesliga club’s offer.

The report names Spurs, Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus, AC Milan, Chelsea, Arsenal, Barcelona, and Sevilla as clubs who hold an interest in the 23-year-old. It is alleged that some clubs are prepared to make ‘crazy’ offers for Ndicka, including a five-year package worth €50m (£43.9m) in total.

The player’s representatives are thought to be eyeing a free transfer next summer as they would be able to pocket an initial fee of €15m (£13.1m), with the defender potentially getting a salary of around €7m (£6.1m) per year.

I suspect that Conte will make a choice to retain one of either Lenglet or Davies at the end of the season and look to bring in another left-sided centre-back. Ndicka, along with Alessandro Bastoni and Piero Hincapie, would be among the top names on the North London club’s wishlist.
