Report: Tottenham are one of several PL sides interested in Man City defender

According to 90 min, Tottenham Hotspur have expressed an interest in signing Manchester City centre-back Nathan Ake this summer.

The report claims that City have informed Ake he is free to leave the club this summer, two years on from his £41m move from Bournemouth.

It is asserted that while Pep Guardiola is a fan of the centre-back, the City boss is prepared to part ways with the player if a suitable offer arrives.

90 min claim that apart from Spurs, the likes of Chelsea, West Ham, Aston Villa, Bournemouth and Newcastle are all keen on snapping up Ake this summer.

It is explained that while some of the aforementioned clubs would like to sign the 27-year-old on loan, City would prefer a permanent sale, which would rule some clubs out of the race.

The report adds that the reigning Premier League champions would demand a ‘sizeable fee’ to part ways with the Netherlands international this summer as still has three years left on his contract.

Spurs Web Opinion

I have wondered over recent months why Spurs were not being linked with Ake, given our need for a left-sided centre-back. While the Dutchman does have some flaws to his game, I would certainly take him over Clement Lenglet, who seems to have now emerged as our main target.
