Report: Tottenham are preparing an offer for 25-year-old centre-back

Turkish outlet Fotospor have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are preparing an offer for Fenerbahce centre-back Kim Min-jae.

Antonio Conte is alleged to have asked Tottenham to bring in two new central defenders when the transfer window opens in January (according to Ducan Castles via Transfer Window Podcast).

If Fotospor’s latest update is to be believed, one of those options could be Kim.

This is not the first time that Spurs have been linked with the South Korean international, with multiple sources (SPOTV News and 90 min) claiming in the summer of 2020 that the North Londoners were eyeing the centre-back.

Kim eventually left Beijing Guoan to join Fenerbahce this summer and the 25-year-old has enjoyed a solid start to life in Turkey.

According to Fotospor, the defender’s performances have caught Tottenham’s eye, with the Lilywhites now ready to make an offer.

However, the report reveals that Fenerbahce want to hang on to the defender at least until the end of the season.

In order to let Kim leave in January, it is explained that the Turkish giants would want €25m (£21m), with at least 75 per cent of the fee up front.

Fenerbahce also allegedly want an additional €10m (£8.4m) in performance-related bonus payments and a 25 per cent sell-on clause attached to the deal.

Spurs Web Opinion

Turkish publications like Fotospor are not the most reliable when it comes to transfer news. So, we will have to wait and see if this gets picked up by other outlets.

However, given that Kim was on Tottenham’s radar previously and the fact that Conte is alleged to want new centre-backs, this rumour does not seem very far-fetched.
