Report: Tottenham are ‘wary’ of offering 27-year-old a new contract

90 min have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are not overly keen on offering Giovani Lo Celso a new deal and are continuing to weigh up their options ahead of January.

Lo Celso has had a bit of a resurgence over the last month, having stepped up and delivered for the Lilywhites amidst their injury crisis.

Reports over the last few weeks have indicated that Barcelona have continued to explore a possible move for the Argentine (The Standard) but Spurs allegedly have no intention of letting him go next month (Dean Jones – GiveMeSport).

Tottenham yet to make final decision on Lo Celso

90 min have now backed up reports of Barca’s interest in Lo Celso, revealing that the Catalan club have spoken to the midfielder’s representatives.

The report claims that Spurs are keeping their options open regarding the former Real Betis star, with Ange Postecoglou said to be fine with the player remaining at the club.

However, the Tottenham hierarchy are not thought to have ruled out a potential sale as they continue to track other midfielders, including Chelsea’s Conor Gallagher.

The publication adds that the North London club are wary of offering the 27-year-old a new contract as that would represent a big commitment, which they are not ready to make.

Spurs Web Opinion

I think Tottenham will likely put off a decision on Lo Celso’s future until next summer. However, it is possible that the Argentine could push for a loan move to Barcelona next month if the La Liga giants manage to turn his head.
