Report: Tottenham are watching as AC Milan make first move for midfielder

Aksam reveal that AC Milan are ready to make an opening offer for Fenerbahce midfielder Sebastian Szymanski, with Tottenham watching the situation closely.

Szymanski has come on leaps and bounds since swapping Dynamo Moscow for Fenerbahce back in 2022. The versatile attacking midfielder, who can also operate out wide, has scored 12 goals and provided 14 assists across all competitions so far this season (Transfermarkt).

Tottenham’s interest in the 24-year-old first came to light back in January when Star Gazetesi reported that Ange Postecoglou is ‘very keen’ on the midfielder and the North London club will try everything to sign the Fenerbahce star.

A couple of weeks later, Fanatik also claimed that Spurs are closely monitoring the Poland international and could make a move for him in the summer.

Tottenham face competition for Sebastian Szymanski

Aksam have now stated that Tottenham face competition from both AC Milan and Napoli for Szymanski’s signature in the summer.

In fact, the report reveals that the Rossoneri are quite keen on securing the player and are ready to make an opening €18m (£15.4m) offer, which is €10m (£8.5m) short of what Fenerbahce are demanding.

The publication goes on to add that Spurs and Napoli are both keeping a close eye on the situation and are ready to pounce on Szymanski if Milan fail to agree a deal.

Spurs Web Opinion

One can see why Szymanski would be an appealing option for Spurs as his versatility means that he can cover for James Maddison in the number ten role and also for the wide areas. With Lo Celso likely to depart in the summer, Postecoglou will likely want a player of the Fenerbahce star’s profile.
