Report: Tottenham are ‘well-placed’ to beat Newcastle to star playmaker

Football Insider have claimed that despite Newcastle United showing interest in Morgan Gibbs-White, Tottenham remain favourites to win the race for the Nottingham Forest star.

The report points out that Tottenham have been longtime admirers of Gibbs-White, with the North London club’s scouts alleged to have kept their eye on the player for the best part of two years.

It is said that Spurs are happy with the progress that the 24-year-old has made at the City Ground and that the feeling at the club is that the midfielder is an ‘Ange Postecoglou player’.

Spurs are ahead of Newcastle in Gibbs-White race

Football Insider say that even though Newcastle have also shown interest in Gibbs-White, the Lilywhites remain at the front of the queue for the player’s signature.

The outlet asserts that Tottenham are ‘well-placed’ to beat the Magpies to the Forest star, just as they did with James Maddison last year.

It is pointed out that Spurs are better equipped financially to land Gibbs-White while the offer of Champions League football (if they qualify) is also expected to be quite tempting for the midfielder.

Spurs Web Opinion

Given Newcastle’s financial situation, Tottenham would certainly be able to offer a bigger transfer fee to Forest and also offer a higher wage to Gibbs-White. However, the Magpies may have come into some cash if they decide to offload a big name like Bruno Guimaraes this summer.
