Report: Tottenham are willing to triple the wages of one Premier League star

Football Insider have revealed that Tottenham Hotspur are prepared to offer David Raya three times the salary that the goalkeeper currently earns at Brentford in an effort to convince him to make the switch to North London.

The report states that David Raya, who has just one year left to run on his contract at the Brentford Community Stadium, has been shortlisted as a replacement for Hugo Lloris, who is expected to depart Tottenham this summer.

Spurs’ recruitment team have allegedly watched the Spaniard closely over the course of the campaign and are now ready to make a move for him.

The outlet states that the Lilywhites are now preparing to offer a salary of £100,000 per week to Raya, which is around three times what he currently earns with the Bees.

It is explained that Tottenham are expected to face competition for the Brentford star from Chelsea, who have also shortlisted the 27-year-old as a target this summer.

This report from Football Insider comes on the back of an update from The Daily Mail, who claimed last week that Spurs want to sign Raya for £20m.

Spurs Web Opinion

Raya is evidently the best goalkeeper among all the options that we have been linked with as he has Premier League experience, is excellent with the ball at his feet and is likely to be inexpensive due to his contract situation.

However, those are exactly the reasons why the Spaniard would be highly sought-after, with Manchester United and Chelsea also likely to explore moves for the Brentford star this summer.
