Report: Tottenham, Arsenal and Chelsea – One club is looking at Ivan Toney alternatives

In what comes as a potential boost to Tottenham’s pursuit of Ivan Toney, The Daily Star have now claimed that Arsenal have identified Bournemouth’s Dominic Solanke as an alternative to the Brentford star.

The speculation linking Toney with a move to Spurs does not seem to be going away, with The Daily Mirror reporting just last week that Ange Postecogolou is optimistic about bringing a striker through the door next month and that the Lilywhites are set to battle Arsenal and Chelsea for the England international.

Speaking to The Standard last week, Thomas Frank did not sound confident that Toney will stay put, instead stating that he ‘hopes’ that the striker will be at the Vitality Stadium on February 1.

Arsenal find alternative to Ivan Toney

The Daily Star have now said that Spurs remain ‘keen’ on Toney while Chelsea are continuing to eye a move for the centre-forward.

They add that while the Brentford star is still Arsenal’s top striker target, the Gunners are now starting to look at alternatives and have identified Solanke as an option.

It is explained that Mikel Arteta’s men will not pay over the odds for Toney and will turn their attention to the Cherries star if the Bees’ asking price is excessive.

Spurs Web Opinion

Regardless of what Arsenal or Chelsea do, I do not think Toney is a realistic target for Tottenham, especially in January.

It would make little sense for Ange Postecoglou’s men to spend a club-record fee to sign the Brentford star when they are in much more desperate need of reinforcements in other areas of the pitch.
