Report: Tottenham at the front of the queue for 45-year-old manager

Tottenham Hotspur are frontrunners to land Lazio manager Simone Inzaghi, according to Italian news outlet Corriere Fiorentino.

Inzaghi is out of contract at the Serie A side this summer and talks are scheduled to be held between both parties today.

It is said that Inzaghi is seeking new terms worth between £125,000 and £180,000-a-week over the next three years, while Lazio president Claudio Lotito is reluctant to meet his demands but there is hope a compromise could be reached.

The 45-year-old has been in charge of Lazio for the past six years and guided the club to a sixth place finish in the Italian top flight last season and took his side to the quarter final stage of the Champions League where they were eliminated by Bayern Munich.

Inzaghi recently revealed that he has been waiting for a new contract for the last 16 months and were it not for his love of the club, he wouldn’t have been so patient (Gianluca Di Marzio).

Journalist Alasdair Gold has already claimed that the main candidates for the role in North London are currently employed at other clubs.
