Report: Tottenham boost in their pursuit of Bruno Fernandes after contract impass

According to the Daily Mail, Spurs had three bids turned down for Sporting Lisbon star, Bruno Fernandes, in the summer.

Sporting Lisbon were said to want around £65m-£70m for the attacking player, a figure that Tottenham and Manchester United were both unwilling to meet.

However, it now looks as if Christian Eriksen could be on his way out of Tottenham with his contract running out in the summer.

Eriksen has been Tottenham’s chief playmaker under the entire Pochettino era, leaving some big shoes to fill in the attacking midfielder department.

A Bola reported earlier this month that Tottenham were interested in going back in for the player in the January transfer window.

They may now have been handed a boost in their pursuit, as A Bola also reported today that Fernandes and Sporting Lisbon have come to an impass over a new contract for the star.

As such, Sporting have no guarantee that the player will remain past January.

Spurs Web Opinion:

Spurs should make a big effort to get this player. However, they should be looking to get him at a decent price if a new contract is not on the table. After all, Tottenham have a number of positions they need to invest in.
