Report: Tottenham close to signing 19-year-old Ireland youth international

Tottenham are close to signing young goalkeeper Josh Keeley from Ireland Premier Division side St Patrick’s Athletic, according to Pundit Arena.

The 19-year-old has emerged as one of Ireland’s most promising youth prospects after working his way through the academy ranks with the Saints.

Unsubstantiated reports on social media this week claimed Keeley had been the subject of interest from Spurs, with a potential deal this summer having the potential to reach up to £1 million (Irish Footy Vlogs).

Pundit Arena have now seemingly confirmed that Spurs are indeed on the verge of completing a move for the Ireland U19 international, subject to a medical being passed and a contract being signed.

Should a deal materialise, it would see Keeley link up with compatriots Matt Doherty and Troy Parrott who are already at the North London club, although he would likely move directly into the youth set-up.

Keeley signed his first professional deal with St Pats in January 2021 and has since featured in and around the first-team while making a handful of appearances on the bench (Transfermarkt).

Spurs Web Opinion

This would be a good move for Spurs, particularly if they are looking to bolster the depth of their academy system.

He seems to be very highly rated in Ireland so that bodes well in terms of analysing the move and it looks to be a snip at the price tag being touted.
