Report: Tottenham closing in on 28-year-old striker from Portuguese club

According to CMTV in Portugal (as translated by SportsLens), Tottenham Hotspur are closing in on the singing of Benfica striker Haris Seferovic.

Reports have indicated that the North Londoners are confident of signing a suitable back up to Harry Kane before the transfer window shuts, with Seferovic among the names said to be on the club’s radar (Football.London).

Reports from Portugal previously indicated that Spurs had enquired about the Swiss international, as well as his Benfica teammate Carlos Vinicius, this transfer window (Mais Transferencias).

It was reported earlier this week that Spurs had failed with a loan offer for Seferovic but Benfica may now be willing to sell the striker permanently (TVI24 via Sport Witness).

CMTV now suggests that Tottenham have made considerable progress in negotiations for the 28-year-old, with the striker now edging closer to a move to North London.

It is suggested that Spurs are set to snap up Seferovic on a season-long loan deal but there is no indication as to whether an option to buy is likely to be included in the deal.

Spurs Web Opinion

The fact that we have still not addressed our striker issue despite a backup to Kane being one of our priorities this window, suggests that Jose and our scouting team are not really convinced by any of the options available. If that is the case, perhaps a loan deal would be the right temporary solution but the jury is still out on whether Seferovic can make an impact in the Premier League.
