Report: Tottenham coach is now being targeted by multiple EFL clubs

Tottenham Under-23 head coach Wayne Burnett has been made a target by a host of EFL clubs, according to the Daily Mail.

Burnett has been part of the Spurs development side since the summer of 2017 and has overseen the progression of Oliver Skipp, Japhet Tanganga and Dane Scarlett to the club’s senior team.

The Daily Mail reports the 50-year-old’s work at Tottenham has now placed him on the radar of several EFL clubs who could make managerial changes heading into the new campaign.

The report goes on to state that Burnett is highly-regarded by fellow coaches which is a reason as to why he has been targeted in such a manner.

Burnett’s playing career lasted 15 years (Transfermarkt) before his coaching career took off in 2004 at non-league outfit Fisher Athletic.

He had spells at Dulwich Hamlet and Grays Athletic followed before joining Dagenham & Redbridge as assistant manager, where he took the helm for two seasons between 2013 and 2015.

Spurs Web Opinion

Burnett has been with the Spurs development team for a while now and he has done a really good job at getting youth players promoted to the first-team.

From what is known, coaches believe he can manage at a higher level, so it doesn’t seem too surprising to see Football League clubs circling for a potential appointment going forward.
