Report: Tottenham ‘compiling a dossier’ on forward as Celtic offer pre-contract

According to a report in Football Insider, Celtic have offered Wigan youngster Kyle Joseph a pre-contract agreement ahead of a summer transfer as they look to beat Tottenham Hotspur to the forward’s signature.

Joseph has impressed in his breakthrough season for Wigan, finding the back of the net five times for the League One side so far.

It was reported at the start of January that Tottenham were set to return with a second offer for the striker after seeing their initial £150,000 offer rejected by Wigan during the summer transfer window.

The Daily Mirror revealed a couple of weeks ago that the 19-year-old is also attracting interest from Tottenham’s North London rivals Arsenal.

Football Insider now claims that Spurs are now compiling a dossier on Joseph before deciding whether to push ahead with a formal offer.

Former Spurs boss David Pleat, who works for the club as a consultant, is said to be performing a background check on the forward’s personality through his contacts.

It is alleged that Celtic are aware of Tottenham’s interest and are looking to tie up a deal with the Latics star before his contract runs out in the summer.

The report suggests that the Scottish giants are prepared to pay Wigan compensation of £300,000 in order to sign a pre-contract agreement with Joseph.
