Report: Tottenham confident of completing deal for defender despite two rejected offers

According to a report from 90 min, Tottenham Hotspur are confident that they will be able to reach an agreement to sign Beijing Guoan defender Kim Min-jae, this summer.

There have been several reports over the past two weeks suggesting that Spurs are close to agreeing on a deal to sign the centre-back (Sports.news.naver via TEAMtalk).

Sky Sports claimed this week that it would take a substantial offer to sign Kim with Beijing Guoan determined to hold on to the 23-year-old this summer.

However, 90 min now suggest that the Lilywhites are expecting to have the deal for the South Korean international concluded in the near future.

The North Londoners have reportedly made two offers for Kim, both of which have been turned down. It is said that neither bid has exceeded the £10m mark while the Chinese Super League side are holding out for £15m.

It is also claimed that Liverpool, Manchester City, Everton, Inter Milan, RB Leipzig, Porto and Monaco have all previously monitored the 6 foot 3-inch centre-half.

Spurs are said to have been tracking Kim for over three years, with the club now reportedly believing that he is ready to make the step up to the Premier League.

Spurs Web Opinion

With Eric Dier now having signed a four-year deal, our situation at centre-back looks much better than it did prior to the lockdown. With Dier, Alderweireld and Sanchez seemingly earning Jose’s trust with their recent performances, I would not be surprised if we were to go for a younger, upcoming prospect like Kim. That might free up funds to spend a bit more on other areas like defensive midfield, right-back, and striker.
