Tottenham Hotspur face a battle on their hands to keep hold of Harry Kane this summer but the club remain confident that he will still be in North London next season, according to a report in the Daily Mail.
Kane’s future has been the subject of speculation in recent weeks with the likes of Manchester United (Evening Standard) and Real Madrid (Diario Madridista) being linked with a move for the striker.
The 26-year-old admitted on Sunday in an interview with former Spurs midfielder Jamie Redknapp on Instagram that he will not stay at the club just for the sake of it if the team is showing no signs of improvement and his words have just added more fuel to the speculation.
We relayed a report from Football Insider a few days ago that suggested that Tottenham have no plans on cashing in on the England captain, whose contract with the club runs until 2024.
The Daily Mail have now reiterated that claim and suggested that the Lilywhites value the striker at over £200 million, a figure they don’t expect to be met by any club this summer.
It is also said that Kane’s admission about considering his future did not come as a surprise to Tottenham but the club believe they are in a strong position to keep hold of the striker even if they fail to qualify for the Champions League if and when the season resumes.
Spurs Web Opinion
There is no reason for Spurs fans to fear that Kane might leave this summer as no club can likely afford him for a while to come given the financial crisis clubs find themselves in as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. For the moment, any talk of big-money transfers this summer is completely unrealistic as even the top clubs are affected badly.
