Report: Tottenham ‘confident’ they can eventually sign 22-year-old – Six months of scouting

GhanaWeb have revealed that Tottenham Hotspur hold an interest in Ajax starlet Mohammed Kudus and believe they could sign him next summer if a deal this year proves difficult.

Kudus has struggled for regular starts since his move to Ajax in 2020, partly because he has been riddled with injuries in both of his seasons in Amsterdam (TransferMarkt).

The majority of the attacking midfielder’s 20 appearances last season came off the bench (Transfermarkt) but the 22-year-old did make a fine start to the 2022/23 season as he scored in the Dutch Super Cup final against PSV in a 5-3 defeat.

GhanaWeb claim scouts from Tottenham have monitored Kudus over the past six months and now wish to snap him up.

The report adds that the North London club believe the youngster’s lack of game time at the Johan Cruijff Arena would make a deal easier to do.

It is alleged that Spurs will not be ‘bothered’ if they are unable to sign Kudus this summer as they are ‘confident’ they can strike a deal for him next year.

Spurs Web Opinion

The fact that this report comes from Ghanaian media rather than European outlets, suggests that the information has been fed by the players’ entourage.

So, we have to take this report with a pinch of salt. Paratici’s scouts may well be keeping an eye on the 22-year-old but that does not necessarily mean an offer is imminent.
