Report: Tottenham considering making a move for Ligue 1 goalkeeper

Media Foot have revealed that Tottenham Hotspur are eyeing a move for Nantes goalkeeper Alban Lafont.

Lafont has been one of the best shot-stoppers in the French top flight over the last couple of years, with the 23-year-old having conceded 23 goals in 18 Ligue 1 matches this season, keeping six clean sheets (Transfermarkt).

With Hugo Lloris and Steve Mandanda both announcing their retirement from international football recently, the France Under-21 international will fancy his chances of claiming Les Blues’ number-one shirt in the near future.

Spurs are thought to be on the lookout for Lloris’ successor, with the likes of Everton’s Jordan Pickford and Brentford’s David Raya mooted as targets for the North London club over recent weeks (Daily Mail).

Media Foot have now revealed that the Lilywhites could look towards another Frenchman, in the form of Lafont, to take over the gloves from their captain.

The report explains that Leicester City had already expressed an interest in the Nantes shot-stopper but the Foxes could now be joined in the race by Spurs.

Spurs Web Opinion

There will be an element of risk involved in signing a goalkeeper from outside the Premier League, especially someone who is relatively inexperienced. That is why I believe that Paratici will look within England, with Jordan Pickford likely to be the club’s top target if he does not sign a new contract with Everton.
