Report: Tottenham considering move for former Barcelona and Watford attacker

According to Corriere dello Sport, Tottenham are considering a move for former Barcelona attacker Gerard Deulofeu (via Sport Witness 13/06/22).

Deulofeu currently plies his trade at Udinese and enjoyed an impressive season for the Italians, scoring 13 and assisting five times in 34 appearances for Andrea Sottil’s side (TransferMarkt).

His fine form in Italy has reportedly caught the attention of a number of European clubs, including fellow Italian side Napoli, Spanish teams Real Sociedad and Villarreal, as well as Spurs.

The 28-year-old has previous experience of playing in the Premier League, having had spells with both Everton and Watford (TransferMarkt).

Corriere dello Sport claim that Udinese hope to receive a fee of £20 million, however, a deal for Deulofeu could likely be completed for £18 million.

With the Athletic reporting that Spurs are interested in signing current Everton man Richarlison, it seems as though Fabio Paratici has his heart set on adding another forward to Antonio Conte’s squad this summer.

Spurs Web Opinion

I feel as though this signing would be majorly underwhelming to the Spurs fanbase on the whole. Deulofeu, although clearly a talented player on his day, never showcased the consistency needed to cut it at the top level in the Prem.

Further, he doesn’t come in and improve any of our front three positions and we need players who will challenge for their place in the starting eleven.
