Report: Tottenham considering summer move for pacy Premier League winger

According to The Sunday People (19/2, Page 62), Tottenham Hotspur are considering making a move for Newcastle winger Allan Saint-Maximin.

Saint-Maximin has been a divisive figure among Newcastle fans and although the winger has largely been a bit-part player for Eddie Howe this season, he has started the Magpies’ last three matches.

In fact, the 25-year-old was Newcastle’s most threatening attacker in their 2-0 loss to Liverpool on Saturday, with Jamie Carragher even naming him as his Man of the Match (Sky Sports – 18/2 6:51 pm).

The Sunday People claim that Saint-Maximin has been on Tottenham’s radar for ‘some time’ and that the North London club even considered making a move for him during last month’s transfer window.

It is alleged that the Frenchman remains on the Lilywhites’ radar, with a potential summer offer from the club said to be on the cards.

The report adds that Newcastle might be willing to cash in on Saint-Maximin as he may be deemed surplus to requirements after the arrival of Anthony Gordon in January.

Saint-Maximin is not likely to come cheap as his current contract with Newcastle runs until 2026 (Tranfermarkt).

Besides, I am not too sure that the winger will want to join Spurs as he will be aware that he will only have a bit-part role at the club, given the attacking talent in the Tottenham squad.
