Report: Tottenham considering summer moves for two centre-backs

90 min have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur have earmarked Nice’s Jean-Clair Todibo and Everton’s Jarrod Branthwaite as targets for next summer’s transfer window.

The report backs up what we have already heard from some sources by revealing that Spurs had explored a move for Todibo earlier this month before their pursuit of Radu Dragusin.

However, it is explained that the Lilywhites were put off by Nice’s €60m (£51.2m) asking price for the Frenchman, which is why they decided to turn their attention to the Romanian instead.

Summer move on the cards for Todibo to Tottenham

90min say that while Tottenham are not expected to return for Todibo this window, they could try again for the Nice star at the end of the season.

However, the report adds that Ange Postecoglou’s men are expected to face quite a bit of competition for the 24-year-old next summer as the player is also on the radar of several other Premier League sides.

The outlet adds that Spurs are also admirers of Branthwaite and have put off a move for the 21-year-old until next summer since Everton do not wish to let their academy graduate leave during the current window.

The publication explains that should the Toffees go down this season, the North Londoners will look to pounce on the English defender, who is also thought to be on Manchester United’s wishlist.

Spurs Web Opinion

Postecoglou has three top-class centre-backs at his disposal at the moment in Dragusin, Romero and Van de Ven, while Ben Davies has also proven to be an able deputy in that position.

In addition, the club also have some talented young players coming through in the form of Ashley Phillips and Alfie Dorrington. I would be quite surprised if Tottenham spent big on another central defender in the summer.
