Report: Tottenham ‘constantly monitoring’ prolific international striker

The print edition of Tuttosport (as relayed by Sport Witness) has reported that Tottenham remain in the hunt for Torino striker, Andrea Belotti ahead of the summer window.

Belotti has been prolific for club and country for the past six years, with very few strikers in the Serie A have a comparable record to the 27-year-old.

Despite Torino languishing near the drop zone, the striker has still managed to score 12 goals and provide 6 assists so far this campaign.

It was reported last summer that Tottenham had an offer of around €50m (£46.3m) rejected by Torino for the striker with the club’s sporting director Davide Vagnati also confirming Spurs’ approach.

Reports from Italy have since backed the North Londoners to make another approach for the experienced striker this summer, with Spurs said to be at the front of the queue for his signature (La Stampa via TuttoMercatoWeb).

Tuttosport have now revealed that Tottenham’s pursuit of Belotti will prove anything but straightforward, with the likes of Napoli, Roma, Fiorentina, Inter Milan, Lyon and AC Milan also keen on snapping him up.

The report reveals that Spurs have continued monitoring the Torino star this season but the striker is said to have a soft spot for Milan, increasing the likelihood that the Rossoneri would win the race for his signature.

Spurs Web Opinion

The one thing we have been missing for a long time is having a top centre-forward like Belotti in the squad to play with/cover for Harry Kane. However, the main problem that I see once again is that the Italian is likely to want to move to a club where he would be first-choice. I cannot see him being prepared to play second-fiddle to Kane.
