Report: Tottenham could battle Arsenal for French attacking starlet

Telefoot have revealed that Tottenham Hotspur are keen on snapping up Montpellier striker Elye Wahi in the summer.

Wahi turned a lot of heads with his breakthrough season at Stade de la Mosson in 2021-22, scoring 10 goals in 36 appearances over the course of the campaign.

The versatile forward, who can play across the front three, has hit even greater heights this season, having found the back of the net eight times and providing two assists in 21 Ligue appearances so far (Transfermarkt).

The 20-year-old has represented France at Under-16, Under-17, and Under-19 levels and if he keeps up his current form, it is surely only a matter of time before he breaks into Les Blues’ senior set-up.

Telefoot state that Spurs are considering a move for Wahi when the transfer window reopens and assert that they could face competition for the youngster from their North London rivals Arsenal.

The report adds that the Montpellier starlet is also on the radars of Bundeslgia side Borussia Dortmund.

If he continues developing in the same trajectory, Wahi will undoubtedly be valued at upwards of £40m in a year or two.

So, one can understand why clubs are lining up to snap up the youngster before he explodes.

I would not be surprised if Spurs are looking to sign him and loan him back to Ligue 1, just as they did with Pape Sarr.
