Report: Tottenham could battle Brighton for Colombian star this summer

Mexican outlet Zocalo Saltillo are now reporting that Tottenham Hotspur could end up going head-to-head against Brighton for Cruz Azul goalkeeper Kevin Mier.

Mier has had a fine start to life in Liga MX since his move to Cruz Azul in January and the goalkeeper is now thought to be attracting quite a bit of attention from England.

The report says that Brighton have been impressed by the 23-year-old’s performances and are now plotting a move to bring him to the Amex Stadium this summer.

In fact, it is alleged that the Seagulls have already got in touch with Cruz Azul over Mier’s availability, although they are yet to make a serious proposal for the young shot-stopper.

Tottenham and Brighton both want Kevin Mier

Zocalo Saltillo make it clear that Brighton are not the only English club eyeing Mier, with Spurs also said to be watching the situation closely.

In fact, it is alleged that Tottenham have been tracking and scouting the youngster for a year after first being altered to his talents when he was still plying his trade in South America.

The publication adds that while Cruz Azul do not want to lose Mier this summer, they will have to consider any ‘attractive proposal’ that comes their way from the Premier League.

Forster is now in the twilight of his career, potentially having just a year left in him at the highest level.

With neither Alfie Whiteman nor Brandon Austin up to the required standard, it perhaps should not come as a surprise that Spurs are exploring young, up-and-coming goalkeepers.
