Report: Tottenham could be among ‘best placed’ to land 29-year-old La Liga star

According to the print editions of Sport and Marca (31/03/23 as relayed by Sport Witness), a move to Tottenham Hotspur could be on the cards for Atletico Madrid’s Yannick Carrasco this summer.

Barcelona are said to have shown interest in signing Carrasco last summer and the Catalan giants are expected to try again to conclude a deal for the wing-back at the end of the current season.

However, Xavi Hernandez’s side do not want to spend the fee that Atletico Madrid are demanding and would have to sell some players before they can push forward with a move.

If a move to Barca does not materialise for Carrasco, it is explained that the Premier League could be his most likely destination.

The Belgian is said to be ‘considering offers’ from England, with Tottenham alleged to have shown interest in the player during the January transfer window.

Newcastle United were also previously keen on the 29-year-old and it is asserted that one of those two clubs would be ‘best placed’ to offer the former Monaco man the last big contract of his career.

Spurs Web Opinion

Spurs do perhaps need reinforcements at left wing-back (despite Udogie’s arrival) as Sessegnon has not progressed the way the club would have hoped while Perisic’s performances have left a lot to be desired.

However, Carrasco is evidently past his best and would be quite an underwhelming signing.
