Report: Tottenham could face a hurdle in pursuit of striker Gift Orban

The Evening Standard have revealed that Tottenham Hotspur are conscious of the fact that they could face plenty of competition for the services of Gent’s Gift Orban.

The speculation linking Orban with a move to Tottenham has gone into hyperdrive since Harry Kane sealed a move to Bayern Munich a couple of days ago.

Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri revealed on Saturday that Spurs and Gent continue to hold talks about the striker through intermediaries, with a written offer from the Premier League side expected soon.

This was also backed up by CaughtOffside, who reported on Sunday that Tottenham are expected to make a concrete move for the 21-year-old over the coming days, with Gent alleged to value the player at £25.8m.

Spurs expect to face competition for Gent Orban

The Evening Standard have now become the latest publication to report that a formal move is expected from Spurs for Orban sooner rather than later.

They too put the striker’s value at £25m but they add that the Lilywhites are aware that other clubs could rival them for the Nigerian’s signature.

All indications are that Orban has now become Tottenham’s next priority. Given the modest fee being reported, one would expect the North London club to not have any difficulty in getting this deal over the line in a matter of days as long as some other European heavyweights do not enter the race for the 21-year-old.
