Report: Tottenham could get involved in bidding war for 23-year-old defender

The print edition of Tuttosport (14/02/23 as relayed by Sport Witness) has revealed that Tottenham Hotspur continue to hold an interest in Torino centre-back Perr Schuurs.

Schuurs is having a superb debut season in the Serie A following his €13m (£11.5m) switch from Ajax last summer and he would have perhaps considered himself unlucky to miss out on Netherlands’ squad for the World Cup in Qatar.

The centre-back’s agent, George Gardi, revealed back in September of last year that Spurs were one of the clubs who showed interest in his client last summer prior to his switch to Turin (Tuttosport).

If Tuttosport’s latest update is to be believed, the 23-year-old is still very much on Tottenham’s radar, with the Lilywhites alleged to have carried out research on the defender this season.

The publication adds that Torino are hoping to get an ‘auction’ going for Schuurs among Premier League clubs so they can bump his price up to €50m (£44.4m) – a fee which the Serie A club are planning on using to pursue their summer targets.

Spurs Web Opinion

Schuurs seems like he has the attributes to operate either in the centre or on the right of a back three and could thus be a decent fit for Tottenham.

However, I doubt Spurs or any other club would be willing to pay the sort of fee being reported here by TuttoSport on the back of one decent season.
