Report: Tottenham could hijack Leipzig’s move for 21-year-old

According to a report from Sky Deutschland, Tottenham Hotspur could look to beat RB Leipzig to the signing of Wolfsburg defender Maxence Lacroix.

Lacroix enjoyed an impressive debut season in German football after making the move to Wolfsburg 12 months ago.

The 21-year-old’s commanding performances at the back for Oliver Glasner’s side last season seem to have caught Tottenham’s attention, with Gianluca di Marzio claiming earlier this week that the North London club could make a move for the centre-back.

Sky Deutschland have now backed up that claim, revealing that Fabio Paratici tried in vain to take Lacroix to Juventus last summer and is now seeking to bring him to Spurs.

The report reveals that Leipzig have already been in talks with Wolfsburg regarding the Frenchman, with the East German club seeing their opening offer for the defender turned down.

It is asserted that Lacroix is keen on making a step up and is open to a move to the Red Bull Arena.

However, Tottenham’s approach is said to have complicated matters for Leipzig, although it is explained that the Lilywhites are yet to submit an official offer.

Spurs Web Opinion

Based on the number of central defenders linked with Spurs over the past few weeks, it is clear that Fabio Paratici has identified the position as the most important to address this summer. Hopefully, the Italian’s arrival means that we get most of our business done early this window rather than waiting until the last moment to get the best prices.
